University of Alabama (Bama) Crimson Tide Football Players Taken in the 2010 NFL Draft

There were a total of seven University of Alabama (Bama) Crimson Tide football players taken in the 2010 NFL Draft that was held in late April of 2010. The breakdown of rounds that the players were taken in is as follows: two in the first round, two in the second round, one in the third round, and two in the football jersey
seventh round.
The first two Alabama players taken were linebacker Rolando McClain from Decatur, AL who was selected with the number 8 overall pick by the Oakland Raiders and Kareem Jackson of Macon, Georgia who went in the middle of the first round as the 20th overall pick. Kareem was chosen by the Houston Texans to bring his cornerback play to the Texans secondary.

After the two first round players (McClain and Jackson) were taken on the first day of the2010 NFL Draft three additional University of Alabama players were selected over the course of the next two rounds. Players three through five selected by NFL teams from the University of Alabama are as follows:
• Javier Arenas is a defensive back that was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round with the number 50 overall pick.
• Terrence Cody is a 6'5" 365 pound defensive lineman that the Baltimore Ravens took with the 25th pick in the second round (#57 overall).
• Mike Johnson out of Pensacola, Florida plays offensive line and was picked up with the last pick of the third round (98th overall).
On the final day of the 2010 NFL Draft the University of San Francisco 49ers jersey
Alabama had two more players selected in the seventh and final round of the televised event. The seventh round selections that previously played college football at Alabama were:
• Marquis Johnson was drafted by the St. Louis Rams to play cornerback. Johnson was selected with the 211th overall pick.
• Brandon Deaderick is a defensive lineman from Kentucky that was taken in the seventh round with the 247th overall pick by the New England Patriots.
With seven players from the University of Alabama taken in the 2010 NFL Draft the only school that had more players selected was the University of Florida with a total of nine. Alabama tied for the number two spot behind Florida with the University of Oklahoma and USC. Oklahoma and USC each also had seven players Buffalo Bills jersey
from their rosters chosen.
Of the 255 players that were taken in the 2010 NFL Draft 2.7% came from the University of Alabama and a total of 11.8% of all players selected came from the four schools of Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, and USC.
