Rangers recall 1B Chris Davis

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—The Texas Rangers recalled first baseman Chris Davis(notes) from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday following the RedHawks’ elimination from the Pacific Coast League playoffs.

Rangers, but he struggled at the plate and was demoted on April 23.
In his third stint for the Rangers this season, Davis is batting .188 with no homers and three RBIs in 31 games for Texas. He hit .327 with 14 homers and 80 RBIs in 103 games for the RedHawks.
Davis’ problems with the bat provided an opening at first base for rookie Mitch Moreland(notes), who’s hitting .263 with five homers and 15 RBIs in 31 games for Texas.

be used as a pinch hitter and occasional late-inning defensive replacement.
Washington still thinks Davis can be a big league regular.
“We still have a lot of hope for Chris Davis,” Washington said. “We sent him down to work on some stuff, he did a great job and he’s still in our future.”
But Davis is running out of chances with the Rangers.

Washington said the Rangers are done with their minor league callups.
